Goals/Activities

Goals

  Ø Supply information on healthy behaviors for preconceptional care, pregnant, and breastfeeding women.

  Ø Increase understanding of risks that impact women?s health.

  Ø Empower women to promote their health through regular preconceptional and prenatal care and good nutrition.

  Ø Promote understanding among men of the integral role they play in pregnancy, infant care and family development.

  Ø Provide information and education to service providers.

  Ø Advocate for change that will increase the availability and accessibility of comprehensive care for women, infants, children and families.

State/Regional Coalition Building

  Ø Provides opportunities for networking, collaboration, and resource sharing through regional and statewide meetings.

  Ø Mobilize members through state and regional activities offering opportunities to serve on committees:  Steering; Policy; Program (conference); Education; Breastfeeding Network; and Membership.

  Ø Maintain a web-based communication and information system.

Policy Advocacy

  Ø Advocate for policy and funding that support women, infants, children and families health.

  Ø Serve as a resource for elected and department officials advocating for positive outcomes for women, infants, children and families.

Education

  Ø Research and report information regarding the availability and accessibility of health care services for women, infants, and children.

  Ø Provide current health information at the annual HMHB Conference.

  Ø Support regional HMHB meetings and other initiatives.

  Ø Support the MI Breastfeeding Network goals and activities.
